Getting publicly heckled by 2 disheveled college kids

Great story to share.

To set the scene: I had just finished up speaking on Monday night to the 46th District GOP in Seattle. It was a great crowd. Tons of people showed up and we spoke for nearly 2 hours about our $30 Car Tabs Initiative and everything else political in Washington State.

As I was leaving the restaurant, two disheveled college kids stuck their heads through the door. They immediately started screaming at me. “Eyman, you’re terrible!” “I hate you!” “You’ve destroyed this city!” Disturbed restaurant staff tried to intervene.

I loved it.

I cheered them on: “Keep going!” “I’m loving this!”

They yelled back: “It just shows how much you suck that you’re enjoying this.” More profanity. The waitress tried to get them to stop and I said: “No, let them go, this is great!” “Keep going guys!”. One did his best to come up with more profanity, but the other guy ran out of steam and walked away.

I followed them: “Don’t leave yet, you must have more to say!” His friend managed a few more seconds of swears and then he left too.

As I left the restaurant, they peeled out of the parking lot screaming “F — you, Eyman!”, sticking their middle fingers out the window. I gave them two thumbs up.

I was smiling ear-to-ear. What a rush! Being publicly heckled is an incredible compliment — it’s what a political activist dreams of. I invite and encourage anyone anywhere: if you see me and hate me, make a scene and make it loud!

Really. It will make my day.

Quite an evening! Clearly we are making a difference.

I’d love to get your feedback on this. What’s your reaction to the whole thing?

We need your help to get our $30 Tabs Initiative qualified by the Dec 31 deadline so we can once again get the cost of licensing vehicles back down to a flat, fair, reasonable $30 per year.

To do that, we need to raise a lot more money. Me selling off my family’s retirement fund and loaning the campaign $500,000 really inspired folks to donate. But we need a lot more.

We need more supporters to contact me and get petitions. We need more supporters asking folks to sign.

To get enough signatures, we need to raise a lot more money.  Me selling off my family’s retirement fund and loaning the campaign $500,000 has really inspired folks to donate. But we need a lot more.

We need more supporters to contact me and get petitions.

And we need more people collecting signatures.
